About Us
Media Indonesia is a national newspaper that has been published since January 19, 1970. Initially, Media Indonesia consisted of only four pages with limited circulation. Its first office was located at Jalan Letnan Jenderal MT Haryono, Jakarta, and was published by the Warta Indonesia Foundation.
In 1976, Media Indonesia expanded to eight pages. In the same year, it also obtained a press publication business license (SIUPP).
In 1987, Media Indonesia’s founder, Teuku Yousli Syah, collaborated with Surya Paloh, former editor-in-chief of the Prioritas newspaper. This partnership gave rise to Media Indonesia under new management with PT Citra Media Nusa Purnama. Surya Paloh served as the president director, while Teuku Yousli Syah was the editor-in-chief. The office also relocated to Jalan Gondangdia Lama No. 46, Jakarta.
In early 1995, Media Indonesia moved its office to the Delta Kedoya complex, Jalan Pilar Mas Raya Kav A-D, Kedoya Selatan, Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta, where it remains to this day. Changes in leadership, both in the editorial and business divisions, have occurred over time.
With the tagline “Referensi Bangsa” (The Nation’s Reference), Media Indonesia continues to strive to present up-to-date news to meet the information needs of its readers. Its vision to build an independent daily newspaper and look toward a better future remains unchanged.
In compliance with press regulations, Media Indonesia has been verified as a press institution by the Press Council on August 18, 2019. In line with the digital era, Media Indonesia has expanded into online media with its portal, mediaindonesia.com, which was also verified by the Press Council on April 6, 2021.
